The French-based filly faced an excellent field of international competitors in the Mile, including the champion English miler Sonic Lady and archrival Milligram, who had defeated Miesque in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes at England’s Royal Ascot. The 3-year-old Miesque took the lead from Show Dancer at the top of the stretch and drew away to win by 31/2 lengths under a hand ride from jockey Freddie Head. |
