The late-running daughter of 1981 Kentucky Derby winner Pleasant Colony won the Oak Leaf Stakes at Santa Anita in her most recent start but was sent off at nearly 6-1. Jockey Eddie Delahoussaye’s patience was rewarded as Pleasant Stage weaved through traffic to give Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Mellon Evans their first Breeders’ Cup Championship victory. Pleasant Stage was later named Champion 2-Year- Old Filly. |
