But it was another stretch-runner, Cardmania, who captured honors as both the Breeders’ Cup and Eclipse Champion by nosing out Meafara. The 7-year-old gelded son of Cox’s Ridge is owned by French journalist Jean Couvercelle and trained by Derek Meredith. The win was jockey Eddie Delahoussaye’s first of two in the 1993 Breeders’ Cup Championship. |
