Belmont Park, was sent postward as the 5-2 favorite in the Breeders’ Cup
Juvenile. Far back in the early running, the son of Woodman rallied to pass
English invader Eltish and won by two widening lengths. Owned by Gainesway Stable, Overbrook Farm and Beverly and Robert Lewis, Timber Country later became the first Juvenile winner to win a Triple Crown race when he captured the 1995 Preakness Stakes for trainer D. Wayne Lukas and jockey Pat Day. |
