We’d seen it before; a daughter of Danehill out of Hasili, owned and bred by Juddmonte Farms win the Filly & Mare Turf at Belmont. That was in 2001 and the filly was Banks Hill. This year, her full sister Intercontinental took her field wireto- wire under jockey Rafael Bejarano. Of the four defending champs returning in 2005, it was Ouija Board that came closest to being a repeat winner. Ouija Board had but two races this season yet made a game run at Intercontinental to come up just over a length short. And behind her were Film Maker and Wonder Again, the same rivals that finished second and third last year. Owner/breeder Khalid Abdullah made a rare visit to the States to witness Intercontinental’s final race before she headed off to the breeding shed. Bejarano was a new face in the winner’s circle; Bobby Frankel was there for the fourth time.
