For the fourth year in a row, the betting favorite in the Juvenile Fillies fulfilled her destiny, and this year, it was Folklore, a homebred from the first crop of two-time Classic winner Tiznow. Racing in the recognizable green and yellow silks of Bob and Beverly Lewis, jockey Edgar Prado kept Folklore on or close to the pace throughout, took command near the quarter-pole and widened her advantage down the stretch. Her only threat came from the late-running Wild Fit, who did not break sharply and perhaps lost too much ground early. Trainer Wayne Lukas, a very familiar face on Breeders’ Cup day, made his 18th appearance in the winner’s circle, while Prado notched his first winning ride in 42 attempts. Beverly Lewis accepted Folklore’s Eclipse Award for Champion 2-Year-Old Filly. |
